Gauze and extraction site illustration

Light bleeding or pink saliva for up to a day is expected. Steady bleeding is not.

Steps to stop bleeding

  • Place fresh, folded gauze directly over the site
  • Bite firmly for 30–45 minutes without checking
  • If it continues, bite on a moistened black tea bag
  • Sit upright and avoid exertion

Avoid

Straws, smoking, hot drinks and spitting can dislodge the clot.
