Spooky Snacks: What to Avoid This Halloween

January 19, 2026 · 3 min read

Children's dental care

Halloween does not have to mean cavities. It is less about how much candy and more about which kind and when.

Hardest on teeth

  • Sticky caramels and taffy
  • Hard candy and lollipops that linger
  • Sour candies, which are acidic

Better choices

  • Plain chocolate, which rinses away more easily
  • Sugar-free gum
  • Treats eaten with a meal instead of all day

Afterward

Drink water, and brush before bed.
